PARISH CELEBRATION WEEKEND

12th - 14th September 2008

We had a wonderful evening on Friday 12th September, beginning with Mass at 7pm in St Joseph's Church, which was concelebrated by Fr David Ajang from Nigeria.

 

This was followed by an 'International Supper' in the Parish Hall. Parishioners brought a homemade dish from their home country for all to share. We had a wonderful selection of food from many different countries, including Spain, Goa, Scotland, the Phillipines, and China, to name but a few.

 

 

On Saturday 13th September we had an afternoon in the Parish Hall, enjoying homemade cakes and refreshments while meeting lots of different members of our Parish, including members of the SVP, CAFOD, Divine Mercy Prayer Group, and the First Holy Communion Programme.

 

 

On Sunday 14th September we enjoyed Mass at 10.30 am in St Joseph's Church, followed by a 'Bring Your Own BBQ' (BYOBBQ) in the Parish Hall. The weather was very kind, and a team led by Graham Chalkley cooked lots of meat on the BBQ, and in the kitchen Maria and Francis prepared rolls and salads for hungry parishioners. Johanna ran a number of activities for the children.
Following the BBQ we drew the winning numbers for the raffle, which raised over £400 towards our Parish Lighting Fund, and the weekend drew to a close with Benediction, led by Deacon Tony.
